Montana meets the honeyberry at Big Sky Honeyberries
For centuries, the indigenous people of Russia, Japan, and northern China have harvested and enjoyed the delicious and nutrient-rich honeyberry. Now nature’s secret superfood is available in Montana at Big Sky Honeyberries.

What is a honeyberry?
The honeyberry, also known as a haskap, is an antioxidant-rich superfood. A member of the honeysuckle family, the honeyberry bush produces a delicious antioxidant-rich berry packed with essential vitamins. Known on the Japanese island of Hokkaido as the “berry of long life,” honeyberries provide more pound-for-pound nutritional benefits than blueberries, oranges, grapes, or apples.

Why Montana?
For centuries, the Indigenous peoples of the northern hemisphere’s boreal forests, in cold regions far from the coasts, discovered and cherished the honeyberry (haskap) for its flavor and nourishment. Through the dedicated work of Dr. Bob Bors at the University of Saskatchewan – whose 30-year breeding program helped bring this wild berry into commercial cultivation – this remarkable fruit is now more widely available. We’re honored to grow a small piece of that legacy here in Montana at Big Sky Honeyberries.
